Hence the research focused on the final Test papers as artefacts of the dual SPM and IGCSE examination systems specifically the English Language papers. While the dual high-stakes examination systems offered students added academic advantage over their peers, less is known in related literature about the complexities of seemingly similar test papers that students and teachers need to deal with when preparing for the final examination. Hence students had to sit for two high-stakes exams at the end of their secondary education. This paper explored the dual high-stakes examination systems adopted by a Malaysian institution which had integrated the standardised national exam and IGCSE into its own curriculum.
